Frequently Asked Questions

We receive many calls with your questions about a first jump or continued training. The following is a list of the most frequently asked questions. However, please email or call if your question is not listed.

I am under 18 years old and would like to jump. Is there something that my parents can sign so I can jump?
Unfortunately, no. In order to skydive, you must sign a legal waiver and must be of legal age to sign the document. Under most state laws, parents cannot sign away the rights of a minor.

I can't decide between the first jump course or tandem. Which do you recommend?
Both skydives are equally exciting. The tandem offers you the excitement of freefall while the first jump course provides you with the sense of accomplishment and excitement of jumping by yourself. It is a personal decision depending on what you want to achieve.

What should I wear to skydive?
You should dress for the weather. We suggest that you do NOT wear blue jeans, as they will be uncomfortable under your jumpsuit. Sweat pants, light weight shorts, or light weight pants are fine. Wear sensible shoes. Tennis shoes are fine. Sandals and shoes that slip off your feet are not appropriate.

What happens if the weather is bad?
We hold classes regardless of the weather. The forecast cannot always be trusted and the weather may be different at our location than it is where you are. If you are scheduled for a morning class, you are expected to arrive on time. Call before you leave if you are scheduled for an afternoon class. Should weather conditions prevent us from making your jump, you will be given a raincheck which can be redeemed for up to 1 year.

What if I am over the weight limit?
The equipment manufacturer's establish the weight limits on the equipment. If you are slightly over the weight limit (5 to 10 lbs), we recommend that you call us to discuss. The weight limit of 240 lbs for a tandem is a guideline and the actual weight restriction is determined by the combined weight of you and your instructor. Depending on your height, and the instructors available on your scheduled day, we quite possibly can go above 240 lbs. However, we cannot accomodate weights 260 lbs and above.

How safe is skydiving?
Skydiving is an extreme sport and has inherent risks and dangers. Archway Skydiving Center is a United States Parachute Association group member and adheres to their safety guidelines. We do track our injuries and would be happy to discuss our injury statistics with you. Please call so that we can give you the most current information.

I have a gift certificate that expired last week. Is there any way that it can be extended?
We will extend gift certificates for $25 per month that you want it extended.
